10 year old boy mabey has learning disability?
I have a ten year old uncle ( I know right) who doesnt make complete sentences, dosent hold attention long, does not do well in social encounters and mimics cartoon show characters words. My grandparents has refused to believe that he needs more help and because they are older have branded his as "slower" and still treat him like a 5 year old. I refused to let their denial limit him. Please give me some indication of what he might have (e.i autism some mental disorder or anything) please help
is he in school?the school probably suggested an evaluation…but his parents could turn it down.
it sounds like it could be autism……..
the pediatrician should have referred them to services–but probably didn’t….print out info on autism–especially things that relate to your uncle…or talk about another ‘experience’ you had with someone with autism…you can make it up…say you were in the mall other day and saw this boy that…….and the mom said he has autism…
ADHD does not make a child unable to speak in sentences….the mimic is called echolalia
there is nothing illegal about turning down special ed services–as long as he is getting an education–even if its not the best…you really can’t do anything…in extreme cases the parent would be taken to court–but unlikely in this situation
I doubt it’s anything like autism or anything it might be mild ADHD from hearing what you said. but don’t worry there is medicine (Ritalin)
Maybe ADHD? Load him up with Ritalin and see what happens.
